Adam Lanza's Motive? Mother In Process of Having Him Committed

Adam Lanza Reportedly Enraged That Mother Was Seeking to Have Him Committed

Nancy Lanza
Late last week, I read that the police had a strong idea as to the motive behind the insane and heartbreaking Sandy Hook shootings committed by Adam Lanza.  Today, via the HuffPost, that possible motive was disclosed:

Adam Lanza
"From what I've been told, Adam was aware of her petitioning the court for conservatorship and (her) plans to have him committed," said Joshua Flashman, 25, who grew up not far from where the shooting took place. "Adam was apparently very upset about this. He thought she just wanted to send him away. From what I understand, he was really, really angry. I think this could have been it, what set him off."

The HuffPost article contained some other interesting information I had not heard before:

"Nancy Lanza reportedly volunteered with kindergartners at the school for several years. Flashman said that Adam "believed she cared more for the children than she did for him." On the day of the massacre, Nancy was Adam's first victim. Flashman told Fox News that Nancy was also good friends with the school's principal and psychologist, both of whom were killed during the incident.
Lanza had also reportedly cut off communication with his father, Peter, in 2010."

I have a few thoughts on this.

One, this motive "makes sense", and that helps me because I need to make sense out of this insanity.

Two, Nancy Lanza should have taken all of her guns out of the house if she knew her son was very angry about the possibility of being committed.  It should not have been beyond the pale of her reasoning to expect that her son might respond violently, if to no one else other than herself, if he was indeed very angry about her plans.  The fact that she apparently believed he was mentally ill to such an extent that she was willing to give up her custodial role, one that she by all accounts took very seriously, only buttresses my belief in this regard.

Reportedly, Adam Lanza had never been violent, despite his problems, so doesn't it make sense that he was demonstrating some significant change of behavior that caused her to seek his commitment?  And, doesn't it make sense that maybe, given his habit of locking himself in a windowless room in the basement of their home playing "Call of Duty" from morning to night, that the change she saw that caused her to seek his commitment was a shift towards violent tendencies?  If so, and Nancy Lanza saw the anger of her her theretofore placid son further escalate once he learned that she was seeking to have him committed, should she not have removed her guns from their household? Isn't that what you would do?  Don't you think this idea crossed her mind, and maybe more than once?  Did Nancy Lanza's apparent "survivalist" agenda subsume any instinct she had to remove her guns from the house?  Can such "fanaticism" ever be a good and rationale thing?

What Happened to This Child...

Finally, the murderer had spoken to neither his Father nor his Brother since 2010.  For a boy to be estranged from his Father and older Brother suggests the boy may have a very deep problem, particularly where, as here, they appear to be "normal" while he was clearly not.  Meanwhile, his Mother taught this obviously troubled boy/man how to master firearms.  Say what you want, but had she, say, taught him how to master fishing, cooking, flying RC airplanes or to drive a race car, maybe this tragedy would have been avoided.

Here’s a theory on why Adam Lanza massacred those children – Adam was raped by a local, convicted Catholic priest, Fr John Castaldo, when he was 6 years old. http://neilallen76.wordpress.com/2012/12/19/why-adam-lanza-massacred-children-at-sandy-hook-newtown-a-theory/

As a parent of two grown children I can understand how something like this change in behavior of a child could "raddle" your thinking and cause you to forget some of the safety things you should have done like Nancy forgetting to get the guns out of his reach. Removing them from the house, etc.

If all of a sudden she thought Adam might try to harm her she may have felt she should keep the guns to protect herself.

We all Monday morning quarterback on these things but that's not quite fair with these kinds of issues with children.

I'm fortunate, my two turned out to be good citizens and parents.

Nancy needed help and the system failed her and Adam. Someone saw or heard something but didn't act on it and Adam imploded.

Or so the media and local authorities say. If I had a coroner as stupid as the one in Newtown, I would be very suspect of his abilities to handle a case like this. He was overwhelmed at the carnage. I don't think Adam killed all those children alone. Just my opinion.

By the way, there's a good chance that as a Datholic child rape victim, he followed the cases in Philadelphia of Msgr Lynn hiding 35 known pedophile priests since 1994 and shredding the evidence of it, along with the Cardinal, 2 bishops, and 2 other priests.

In his shut offf world, he would see Catholics everywhere fighting for the pedophiles instead of the child victims, and might have been frustrated that no one cared about him at 6 years old. Next step - show that the other 6 year olds would not be safe either. Its horrible logic, but it is logical, and they said he was a smart and logical techhie.

I sadly agree that he wasnt the only one involved. But, with another shooter comes a whole network of people pushing an agenda.

It was reported that there was two survivors at one point, whose names would not be released until police were able to talk to them. What information could they possibly have that needs to be so protected? Why haven't I come across any info or updates on these survivors? are they hoping, that no one remembers the news reports about them?

and if he killed himself with a small hand gun, and no other gun was around him, how did the gun used to murder every one get in his car?

yes he was an intelligent unstable boy who was taking college level classes in high school through a goverment project. his father who he hasn't seen in two yrs along with his brother who police took in as the shooter at first, mixing up the brothers, yet wasn't his body in the school? it is simply a fluke that adam lanzsas father is connected to james Holmes father through a bank being investigated for fraud, and that it isn't freaky at.all james Holmes father once worked for the government on mkultra. or that program lanza did in high school had ties to mkultra...

now, if he was traumatized at 6, wouldn't that help in any programmed motive to kill 6yr olds? how about police saying when questioning holmes about working alone, he smirked, and his mom saying yup you have the right guy. but the guy in the theater was reported to have green hair like the joker, but in.jail it's orange.

something fishy is going on+

I don't find your theory plausible. Here's two theories:

1. he was abused as a child
2. his mother eventually figured it out and the principle and the psychologist were also made aware
3. they were all taken out

OR

1. he was abused as a child
2. he really did snap

OR

1. he just snapped and had Asbergers (easy way out)

Eitherway, it's a disgrace that people have already convicted Adam Lanza. Only days later, people are saying we should remember only the other victims and forget Adam. Seems it's more about comforting themselves and maybe their own inactivity.

Eitherway, guilty until proven innocent. Rest in piece Adam Lanza. I will try to figure out what happened and why.
