Nearly 50% of the Unemployed May Have Voluntarily Quit Their Jobs - This is a Very Bad Strategy!

I know, it seems hard to believe.  Click Here to read about this underpublicized fact - one that surely has not helped our Nation's recovery.

The fact is, while prior to the Great Recession we could quit our job and easily find a new one that was at least equivalent to our old job, those days are gone, at least for now.

I have spoken with many top recruiters, and they have told me that they will not consider someone who has been out of work for more than 3 months - in fact, many of them will not even consider candidates who are unemployed at all!

We have blogged in the past about how difficult it is to get unemployment benefits if you quit your job (use the Search Bar to locate those Blogs).  Yet, that is not the biggest problem.  If you quit your job, you are taking yourself out of a potentially large segment of the job market.

Before you quit your job, it may be wise to speak with an attorney about how this will affect your future, both with respect to your legal rights, and your chances of becoming reemployed in a desirable position in the near future.
